Syamantak Industries Pvt. Ltd. takes pride in manufacturing “Cosmos” Brand Air Distribution Products, establishing itself as a leading brand not only in India but also expanding its presence worldwide. With a diverse range of air distribution products under the Cosmos brand, the company has garnered the preference of HVAC consultants across India and gained recognition from leading system integrators for various projects.

One of the features offered on the company’s website is a downloads page, where users can access product catalogues by providing their details and selecting the desired catalogues. However, a significant challenge arose in the process. After submitting the form, the user’s details along with the selected catalogue list were sent to the admin via email. The admin then manually sent the requested catalogues to the user’s email address. This manual process was prone to errors, such as sending the wrong catalogue files to users, resulting in an inefficient and potentially frustrating experience for both users and administrators.

In response to this challenge, I was tasked with developing a solution to automate the download process and mitigate the risk of errors. Leveraging WordPress as the platform, I created a custom plugin designed to streamline and automate the entire process.

Here’s how the plugin functioned:

1. User Form Submission: Upon submission of the download form by the user, the plugin captured the user’s details and the selected catalogue list.
2. Automated Email Generation: Instead of sending the user’s details and selected catalogue list directly to the admin, the plugin automatically generated an email to the user’s provided email address. This email contained a unique download link.
3. File Zipping and Link Generation: The plugin dynamically zipped the selected catalogue files into a single compressed file. It then generated a unique download link for this compressed file.
4. Email Delivery of Download Link: The plugin sent an email to the user containing the download link for the zipped catalogue file. This email was automatically triggered upon form submission and provided clear instructions for the user to access their requested catalogues.
5. On-Click Download: When the user clicked on the download link in the email, they were directed to a secure page on the website. Here, they could download the zipped catalogue file with a single click, eliminating the need for manual intervention by the admin.

By implementing this solution, several benefits were realized:

• Error Reduction: The automated process significantly reduced the likelihood of errors, such as sending the wrong catalogue files to users. With the plugin handling the entire process, there was no room for human error in selecting and sending catalogue files.
• Efficiency: The streamlined and automated workflow saved time and effort for both users and administrators. Users could access their requested catalogues instantly, while administrators were relieved of the manual task of sending catalogue files individually.
• Enhanced User Experience: Users benefited from a seamless and hassle-free download experience, receiving their requested catalogues promptly and securely. This improved user satisfaction and contributed to a positive perception of the company’s brand.

Overall, the custom WordPress plugin successfully addressed the challenge of automating the download process for Syamantak Industries Pvt. Ltd.’s product catalogues. By providing users with a convenient and error-free method to access catalogue files, the plugin enhanced efficiency, reduced errors, and improved the overall user experience on the company’s website.
