Indian Society of Structural Engineers
The establishment of the Indian Society of Structural Engineers was a response to the persistent challenges faced by the Structural Engineering Profession over the years. The core mission of the society revolves around elevating the dignity of the profession and establishing appropriate norms for professional responsibility.

One of the issues identified within the society was related to the membership application process. The existing procedure involved a membership form on their website, which, upon submission, was received via email. This email contained the values of each input from the form, along with other required documents and a photo. However, a significant bottleneck in this process was the manual effort involved in transcribing these values into the actual membership form. This included affixing the photo print to the physical form, turning the task into a time-consuming and labor-intensive process.

In response to this challenge, I was assigned the task of finding a technological solution. To streamline and automate the membership application process, I developed a custom plugin within the WordPress platform. This plugin was designed to seamlessly extract all the input data from the online form submission.

Here’s how the plugin functioned:

1. Data Extraction: Upon form submission, the plugin extracted all the input values, ensuring that every piece of information provided by the applicant was captured accurately.
2. Form Creation and Population: The plugin dynamically generated a digital form mirroring the physical membership form used by the society. It then populated this digital form with the extracted values, ensuring a one-to-one correspondence.
3. PDF Generation: Once the digital form was populated, the plugin compiled it into a PDF document. This PDF included all the applicant’s details in the precise format as required by the society.
4. Automated Email Sending: The final step involved the automated delivery of this PDF document to the society’s admin via email. This eliminated the need for manual data entry and significantly reduced the administrative workload.

By implementing this solution, the manual effort involved in processing membership applications was drastically reduced. The admin now only needed to print the prepopulated form, as the plugin took care of seamlessly transferring the applicant’s details to the required format. This not only saved time but also ensured accuracy and consistency in the membership application process, aligning with the society’s mission to enhance the efficiency and professionalism of the Structural Engineering Profession.
